#FilmNerd

The other day, I bought the Lomography.com Groupon ($20 for $50 worth of product). I began browsing and decided that I’ll be purchasing the La Sardina! I’m so excited and even found a couple photos on Flickr taken with the camera. A little more info found on lomography.com:

These 35mm cameras are equipped with spectacular wide-angle lens, multiple exposure capabilities, and a rewind dial—everything you need for fun-filled and thrill-soaked escapades.

Weekend Recap

No Monday Link Love today–we had a weekend at the lakehouse and I’m exhausted. How was yours?

I attended my first Doo DahParade this year on the 4th. It was fabulous.

Daily Occurrences

Some shots from my second Canon A-1 roll (Fuji pro400h). A lot of the shots were a bit blown out which was kind of a bummer. I’m currently shooting Kodak Portra 400NC so we’ll see how that turns out next weekend. If you want to connect on Flickr, add me as a contact!

Parked

Last weekend Adam and I had a lovely day at the park. We read, played on our phones, and I taught him how to shoot with my digital SLR. He loves it! I’ve always been on the other side of the camera shooting so it was fun to be on the front side.

Daily Occurrences

A day-to-day look at what I do everyday. I go to work (not pictured) I workout, we make dinner, I sit at my messy desk and design. Oh and I get to hang out with the cutest pup ever. I have about 10 shots left on my Canon A-1. I’ll probably get the film developed on Sunday or Monday. I can’t wait to see how the roll turns out!

Icarus & Occident

Icarus & Occident is my new favorite blog. It’s a daily juxtaposition of photography and music. But in a way, it’s deeper than that for me. While reading, I’m sucked into the music, the lyrics and the visual. I really love this excerpt from their About page:

“This will all fade. And no, friends, your creations won’t last either. They, like your body, will be enjoyed for a few short years before inevitably eroding away with the rest of the earth.

So make them damn good.

You heard me. Make them so beautiful that the eyes of those around you shine with wonder. May your stories be so raw and captivating that audiences will weep. May your songs resonate from your chest so violently that crowds cannot deny your life was worth the blood in your veins. May your one-thousandth menial report be as thorough and thankless as the first. May your daily interactions be more than idle pleasantries and nods. May your words be few and good. May your actions be bold, out of love.”

Be sure to take a look, add to your RSS reader, and enjoy. I especially felt that little burst of emotion while listening to Dan Auerbach’s “Goin’ Home” while reading Jeremy’s thoughts on home. That’s what I love about blogging and if I can make my readers feel any type of emotion like that…then it’s worth it.

Well done Icarus & Occident, you’ve inspired me.

Daily Occurrences (Weekend Style)

A few shots from this past weekend. Sadly, we weren’t able to go up to Chicago as planned. Adam’s car got hit awhile ago and the person drove off without giving us their information and my car’s breaks suddenly needed fixing. Of course, it seems like when one of our vehicles has an issue…the other one gets jealous and starts acting up. Oh well, we’re rescheduling our trip for this month and instead we had a lazy weekend at home. Saturday was the first day in awhile without any signs of rain and so we threw open the windows and spent a lot of time outside in the sun. Sunday was just as lazy although I did work out. I’m doing P90X and I had a bit of a traumatic experience. I hooked up the bands to the top of the door to do the pseudo chin ups and since the door wasn’t completely shut…the entire band flew back and hit me in the face. Yes, I cried. Desh was attentive to me the rest of the day. I think he worries about me.
