Homeversary

Today marks two years that I’ve been here in Columbus, Ohio and I couldn’t be happier about the city that I choose to call home. I grew up in Illinois and so Ohio never really crossed my radar until Adam got a job here before we got engaged. I’m not an expert when it comes to Ohio as a state but Columbus is exceptionally wonderful. The food culture is outstanding, it’s a city that appreciates creativity and the arts, and I still get to experience all four seasons. Win!

Icarus & Occident

Icarus & Occident is my new favorite blog. It’s a daily juxtaposition of photography and music. But in a way, it’s deeper than that for me. While reading, I’m sucked into the music, the lyrics and the visual. I really love this excerpt from their About page:

“This will all fade. And no, friends, your creations won’t last either. They, like your body, will be enjoyed for a few short years before inevitably eroding away with the rest of the earth.

So make them damn good.

You heard me. Make them so beautiful that the eyes of those around you shine with wonder. May your stories be so raw and captivating that audiences will weep. May your songs resonate from your chest so violently that crowds cannot deny your life was worth the blood in your veins. May your one-thousandth menial report be as thorough and thankless as the first. May your daily interactions be more than idle pleasantries and nods. May your words be few and good. May your actions be bold, out of love.”

Be sure to take a look, add to your RSS reader, and enjoy. I especially felt that little burst of emotion while listening to Dan Auerbach’s “Goin’ Home” while reading Jeremy’s thoughts on home. That’s what I love about blogging and if I can make my readers feel any type of emotion like that…then it’s worth it.

Well done Icarus & Occident, you’ve inspired me.

Regal

I blame it on my love for Princess Di. Even after all these years. Growing up, I wanted to marry a Kennedy just because it seemed like the closest thing to royalty. Yes, I am a dork.

Monday Link Love

This Monday Link Love is dedicated to my dream house. I’m assuming that it exists somewhere since I would have no desire to build a house of my own. So, here’s to you housey.

- I’m not sure when wallpaper got cool again but I jumped on board. I love the first image in this post. Great pattern and contrast.

- Yes, actually my dream house could very well be a tree house.

- Holy bed, chandelier and wood galore. I love it.

- A great resource I stumbled upon with lots of great photos of rooms, layouts, and inspiration. The featured photo in this post was found there.

- Are you on Pinterest? If so, follow this LIVING board.

- I like the way these photos are arranged.

ENJOY!

I Went Away

…for 7 days. And to be honest, I’m happy to be home. After lots of driving, four full days at the beach, wonderful family time, and horrid car trouble we’re finally back. Regular blogging starts now!

Home. Where I wanted to go.

I didn’t take a lot of pictures from my weekend but I needed and loved it. I’m excited to be spending another long weekend with my new family. It made me re-evaluate a lot of things and I’m excited about the future. I have a lot of projects that I’m working on but I can’t share them yet! Stay tuned.
