drawn

A pleasant surprise.

Here’s the story. I never use Bing. Until the other day. I used Bing to find some images of vintage pattern and boy am I glad that I did. I came across Aprile Elcich’s collage blog and I really loved looking through it. On her site she states, “My goal is to feature every single collage artist (that exists!) here on Notpaper,” and I’m glad she’s up for the challenge. Below is a piece by Mary Virgina Carmack.

Saw this painting-turned-print over here. Mark Warren Jacques’ work is Wonderful. With a capital “W.”

always admire those in your life.

The other day I realized how much I missed being surrounded be people that I admire. It has taken a long time for me to digest what my college experience really meant and how it affected me. During those four years, I was blessed to work, create, and spend time with some of the most talented people I think I’ll ever meet. There are many more but I decided to feature these 7 artists today. Now let me introduce you…

What I like Most

I haven’t been posting as regularly. I’ve been trying to be more intentional with my time. I’ve been trying to get more sleep. I’ve been trying to create freelance work that I’m really excited about.

I’ll have a lot more work to post after the holidays. I’m currently designing wedding invitations for three couples, a website for Jewel Hazelton, a collaborative project with TOTSPUPS.com + many other artists, and finishing up a few more details for past projects.

The picture above is my puppy (Desh) trying to eat my dinner. For more pictures, go here. My husband  has recently started taking more pictures. He’s fab.

A year in review

Just realized there were some pieces that aren’t on my blog or my personal site. I’ve had two external hard drives crash which is why I switched to DropBox but I still like documenting my work on my blog just in case something crazy happens and my DropBox gets deleted too. So this is for me…but enjoy :)

Monday Links

I hope this Monday is a start to a very short week for all of you! I had a wonderful weekend in Illinois and it was so refreshing to be with my family and close friends. But now I must work until another fun extended weekend. Enjoy these links and remember to be THANKFUL!

The painting featured above is one of Steve Kim’s. I love it.

A way in which children and adults can be creative together.

Does AOL’s new logo make anyone else cringe?

Let it snow.

I just bought this vintage Christmas tree topper. I wanted something with personality and this screams awesome.

I’ve been excited for this shop opening and now it’s here!

Some items that have made it onto my Christmas list this year are: these adorable banners, this bag, this necklace, and a trip to the beach.

Enjoy your Mondays and make it fun!

Just down the streetz.

A sketch. A drawing. Just a thought that I had.

Linking to Love.

More links to start your week. I enjoyed my weekend but Adam was gone so it wasn’t as good as it could have been.

For Print Only just featured a really different, but awesome invitation design. I definitely don’t gravitate toward that shade of pink, but I really like this.

Also, can I get my Gocco back? After reading this, I never realized what I could have created with that little gem of a machine.

This video makes me laugh. so. much.

Has anyone used this resource?

Is this just a lame knock off of the Polaroid? I just love the white, clean design.

I’m going to start using the “Far Far Away” option.

It's Only You.

6a00d834cad15053ef0120a63794a7970c

A favorite excerpt from one of my favorite books. You can take so much from this book, but for some reason this small, small portion always stuck in my head. I guess we’re all fools at some point, right?

Peter: It doesn’t matter much to you, does it?

Katie: What?

Peter: What I’ve been doing

Katie: Oh…yes it does, Peter. No, not too much.

Peter: That’s sweet of you.

Katie: But you see, it’s not what you do that matters really, It’s only you.

Peter: Me what?

Katie: Just you here. Or you in the city. Or you somewhere in the world. I don’t know. Just that.

Peter: You know, you’re a fool. You’re technique is something awful

Katie: My what?

Peter: You’re technique. You can’t tell a man so shamelessly, like that, that you’re practically crazy about him.

Katie: But I am.

Peter: But you can’t say so. Men won’t care for you.

Katie: But I don’t want men to care for me.

Peter: You want me to, don’t you?

Katie: But you do, don’t you.

Peter: I do.
