Monday Link Love

- A useful way to manage your Twitter account and who you follow.

- A blog post devoted to corn?! My favorite food!

- I love Young House Love’s suggestions for keeping mementos and personalized decor throughout your house!

- One of my goals this year is to make homemade pizza crust. I thought this post would be helpful.

- These wedding invitations are darling. I can’t wait to design new sets.

- Another goal for this year is to make two homemade headboards. This post, this post, and this post will help.

- 10 Reasons Why Being Married is Better. This post is amazingly accurate.

Loveable links for your weekend!

I usually pump out links to share on Mondays but I’ve been behind in almost everything lately. My room is covered in dirty (and clean) clothes, I’m battling a head cold and I’m juggling three jobs! Anyways, if you’re bored at work or waiting for the weekend to roll around…enjoy these links!

- Who wouldn’t want the sand beneath their feet all day at work?

- Throwing a cocktail party? Impress your guests with these invitations.

- One of my all time favorite YouTube videos. It makes me want to have a daughter.

- I wouldn’t be cool enough to live here.

- Downloaded this mix over at Pitch Design Union! Love it.

- Check out the shirts at Stymie. Found here.

- I love their use of the chalkboard wall. So clean and visually appealing.

- Buying a return address stamp here soon!

- Adam and I just saw Mumford and Sons (isn’t their site design awesome?) recently. AMAZING. Watch this video. Image above from their concert.

It’s a Process

Everyone is a graphic designer these days and sometimes our culture forgets that it takes a lot of work. Not every designer just live traces everything and slaps on some generic font. I’ve started and completed so many projects this past year and the process is difficult. I thought I’d share a few of my “draft” vs “final” snapshots so that you can see the process. Enjoy!

^ This project is a current one. It’s always interesting to see where a project goes when the designer and the client have two completely different visions. I actually really like both versions.

^ This project has been completed and it took me awhile, as the designer, to understand what the client was looking for. Sometimes communicating through email isn’t good enough and because of this project, we began using Skype to talk voice-to-voice.

^ This wedding invitation set has not even been revealed on my website, blog, or Facebook page yet! I’m excited to show you all the entire set because it’s one of my favorites. The couple really knew what they wanted but even the most detail oriented people have so many options to choose from.

Hopefully I’ll be able to share things like this more often. No Monday Link Love today. I posted a lot links via Twitter last week. Check them out here along with some of my other favorite tweets by others.

Now that it’s all said and done.

Well, all of my orders are sent out and I feel accomplished in the fact that I had my first experience in paper goods. I realize now that I will always love print design more than anything designed for web and I’m okay with that. There’s something really great about holding what you created in your own hands. All-in-all it was fun and the cards that I still have in stock are already running low so I’m having a difficult time figuring out how many more to get printed. Feel free to leave your advice or if you’re still interested in buying a set for Mother’s Day, it’s possible that I can have then on her doorstep by Saturday!

*Pardon my horrid photography, all I have is my iPhone!

Current Work

I thought I’d post some recent work that is nearing the final stage. I post a lot of rough drafts and comps on my Facebook page but sometimes forget to post it here. I try to keep a balance between my blog and my Facebook page. I like to post similar content in case I have a different audience but also keep it different for variety.

Stationery Now for Sale

I’m happy to announce that my stationery is now for sale in my Etsy shop! I currently have sets of 4 and 8 available as PRE-ORDER only. These sets will be shipped out May 4th in time for Mother’s Day!

I am also accepting PRE-ORDER custom sets so if you’re only interested in a certain card, send me a message on Etsy and let me know which card combination is your favorite! (No extra charge!)

PRE-ORDER stops this Wednesday (April 28th) and I can’t guarantee you’ll get your set by Mother’s Day if you order after April 28th (although rush delivery can be accommodated in your order). I will have sets in stock after Mother’s Day that will be shipped out next business day.

Stationary!

This is my new line of stationary. I’ve realized how much I’ve evolved throughout the past two years and I feel these first four cards really communicate my style.

Anyways, a set of these four cards will be given away for FREE this upcoming Monday (April 26, 2010) so if you leave a comment below, I’ll enter all the names into the drawing and choose a random fan! You can also enter by going to my Facebook page and leaving a comment on the giveaway status.

Sets of 4, 6, and 8 cards will be available to purchase in my Etsy shop Monday as well. Mother’s Day is coming up and the sets would make a wonderful gift.

Monday Link Love

I promised myself on Saturday that I would try to be consistent with my Monday link sharing! So here you go:

The photos above are from my trip to England in 2007. Lately I’ve been wanting to go back. A lot.

I know POST 27 has been making the rounds in the blog world but if you haven’t checked it out…DO! Beautiful website design and amazing products.

I’ve been dreaming of nail polish this color. Now I know where to buy it. And this. Thanks for sharing Kate!

I perhaps have been LITERALLY drooling over this map. I think I shared this on Twitter but it’s worth repeating.

Adam shared Creativebe with me last week. Fun apps and a great way to store your recipes.

One of my favorite Flickr sets!

I’ve been designing custom and altering basic WordPress themes lately. This has been handy.

Lastly, I’ve been reading about Dr. Johanna Budwig’s Budwig Diet. My 12 year old sister was diagnosed with Celiac Disease/thyroid disorder last year and is currently taking on the flaxseed oil/cottage cheese supplement in her diet. I’m really excited about it and interested to see what happens. She’s only twelve years old but she has the maturity of an adult and she is one of the people I admire most.

Have a wonderful Monday!

Check It Out.

I’m excited to announce that I’m featured as Elise’s blog giveaway today! Check it out and maybe win!
