Non-Fruity Smoothies

As some of you may know, I’ve been on the Candida Diet for…this entire freakin’ year. I’m serious. Since January 9th. I’ve probably eaten out less than 10 times total and right now I’m trying to stay pretty strict again before I see my integrative/functional MD at the end of the month.

When you can’t have legumes, peanuts, yeast, grains, dairy, alcohol, sugar (including 99% fruit) and other super specific foods…you get creative and you start to love cooking. Sure, it gets old. But I have never eaten better.

Speaking of creative, I thought I’d share two of my non-fruity smoothies that taste great:

Pumpkin Spice Smoothie:

  • 2 Tablespoons organic pumpkin puree (I’m allowed to have 5-6 grams of sugar daily but keep in mind that a 1/2 cup contains 4g of sugar
  • Almond or coconut milk (I pour as much as I want to drink)
  • 1 scoop Sun Warrior vanilla protein powder
  • A heaping spoonful of almond butter (any butter will be fine but peanut will probably make this smoothie taste like peanut butter)
  • A LOT of pumpkin spice (mixture of nutmeg, cinnamon, cloves, etc). I basically pour until I like the taste.
  • 3 ice cubes
  • Chia or hemp seed hearts are optional

Fluffy Chocolate Smoothie:

  • 1 scoop Sun Warrior chocolate protein powder
  • Almond or coconut milk (I pour as much as I want to drink)
  • 1 tsp chia seeds
  • 1/2 avocado

I want to try including mint into the chocolate smoothie! I think that will be delish. Any non-fruity or sweetened beverages that you love? Besides La Croix (ha)?

    Love the chocolate/avocado smoothie idea! I tried it with my Shakeology protein and woah it’s the creamiest smoothie I’ve ever had! Going to try pumpkin pie one next…

    I’m digging Gerolsteiner mineral water and Smart Water with 1/2 squeezed lemon juice in it.

      YAY! And I love limes or lemons in my flat or sparkling water. It’s so refreshing!

    I’ve been using Sun Warrior, too! I like the Natural version of their protein powder since it doesn’t have stevia, which I don’t particularly like. It’s definitely my go-to! I love these non-fruity recipes. I need to mix it up!
