Four years ago today, Adam and I attended a huge party that my parents hosted and danced all night. Sure, a wedding day is swell (and damn expensive) but we don’t hold it to a extremely high standard. When it came to the wedding, I actually didn’t really care. My mom and I got into one fight while we were planning. She actually got frustrated because of my lack of interest. Napkin color? Cake? Flowers? Not my thing. Adam was, and still is, my thing.
That’s how we treat anniversaries too. We don’t do fancy dinners. No jewelry. No champagne (although we regularly drink mimosas). It’s a great day to remember but it’s the day-to-day that fills up your life and makes memories.
He’s pretty wonderful. Every day.

I can’t really tell you how much I love and appreciate this. My husband and I have also been married for four years and we also simply attended a party hosted by my parents and danced all night. We got married alone together in a courthouse in Norway and I had zero interest in planning a wedding. I wore black cigarette pants and a sparkly top. No big white cupcake dress for me.
I’m so glad to see another gal my age feel this way. I often feel like an alien amongst my friends who are quite literally obsessed with weddings.
You got it girl. Happy anniversary!
Xoxo,
Gray

Aw I’m so glad I’m not alone either! With Pinterest, it’s hard to feel like anyone could think like us :) PS- LOVE your name. I think I’ve said this to you before but don’t be surprised if we name our future daughter Gray some day…

There aren’t many couples that exude the love and admiration in just pictures like you two do. You give single girls like me a little hope that something good is out there. Happy anniversary to you both!

Aw thanks Jac! There is hope – you’ll know when you find him!

Happy Anniversary, you two! Thanks for giving us a front row seat to your love and admiration for one another :)

Congrats on four years! We do an “anniversary week”. No presents but we just go out and do fun things. We also try and go out to breakfast since that’s one of our favorite things to do.

I love week-long celebrations!! That’s an amazing way to celebrate.

Congratulations on 4 years! I tend to get wrapped up in the parties, celebrations, and momentous occasions, but it’s good to remember it’s the day to day LOVE that is the important stuff. I’ll have a glass of champagne in your honor :)

The parties are still super fun – I had a BLAST at our wedding. But it’s true – it’s just a day. At least make it fun, right??

Happy anniversary!!!
It sounds like you had the kind of wedding that I’m currently planning. Our biggest expense is going to be the photographer, since that’s the one thing I can’t do myself and don’t want to cheap out on!

Thanks Sarah!! I love that you’ve prioritized the photographer. You won’t regret it!

Congrats to you both! I just loved the simplicity of this post. You were able to say a lot, with only a few words. Cheers to the years to come!

Thank you for your sweet words, Gabriella!!

Aw I love that! Congrats!

Thanks Sarah! xo

Congrats on 4 years! I had a similar experience with my wedding. My husband and I are so laid back and my mom did most of our wedding planning (because she’s so NOT laid back about those sorts of things) and she got frustrated with my “apparent lack of interest,” as you said. Have a beautifully simple anniversary :)

We sound so much a like!! Thanks for the well wishes :)
