For the past few months, I try to attempt 3 new things that I’ve never done! So far, my track record hasn’t been so hot but I have high hopes. I’ve actually learned a lot. I’m learning just how much you can do in a month (the answer: not as much as I thought). Here’s what I’ve done so far: made popsicles, created my own necklace, planted herbs, and took a class on terrarium making!
So what’s up for August? Well I’m working around my spending freeze so I needed to do things that won’t break that vow:
- Design postcards and send to friends and family. Be creative, practice calligraphy and use lots of color.
- Go skinny dipping. It just has to happen.
- Actually record a video with my iPhone and edit with Photoshop.
If you keep track, you might notice that #3 is the same as last months. I was able to research a lot more and purchase a membership through Lynda.com (for tutorials). I’m excited to record a video during our time at our family’s lakehouse later this month!
I have high hopes for August. This month I’ll begin freelancing full-time, joining an amazing studio here in Columbus, travelling to Chicago, relaxing in Michigan, and (hopefully) accomplishing these three things!

I cannot wait to see how #3 turns out! I’m really interested in getting into video too. Oh and lynda.com is amazing! I get a free subscription through work, but I would pay. It’s that great.
I’m excited! I’ve used Lynda at work too. It’s totally worth the $$.
i have been fooling around with video lately. i even had a video i submitted picked for airing at RollerCon (huge roller derby convention held in Vegas).
it’s been fun and frustrating at the same time since i have limited equipment and software and, um, TIME!
maybe at our lunch we can talk newb video!
Ohhh I want to see it! Yes let’s chat about video and all the other things we want to do but don’t have time for…
Friday lunch?
pretty sure friday works for me!
I’m excited to see how #2 turns out! Let me know! ;)
Hahahahaha. Ohhhh yeah!
This makes me want to try all manner of new things! I love that you’re doing this. What a great thing to hold yourself to.
Thank you Naomi!! I hope I can keep it up and start understanding my time better too. I like new things (even if they’re scary).
Allie! You have to go skinny dipping! I did it late at night in Florida in Jan. anddd there is nothing more liberating and i was cracking up the entire time! SO FUN!
Ah! I’m so excited. I think I won’t be as freaked out if it’s in a lake vs the ocean hahaha. I’m cool with the naked part…but the underwater world scares me!!! HA!
Hahaha. I remember skinny dipping when I was about 20 with a bunch of friends in the sea in Cape Town (freezing cold water!). Good luck!
Brrrr!! I hope wherever the skinny dipping takes place…it’s a bit warmer haha! Sounds like a blast either way :)
Skinny dipping is the best. It is seriously the definition of freedom!! Have a blast!
Thanks Jess! So excited!
